To help the UK Border Agency record receipt of your application we recommend that you send it recorded delivery or special delivery and keep the relevant number.

We will return all your documents by recorded delivery and a signature is required by Royal Mail upon receipt of recorded delivery items. If Royal Mail are unable to deliver the documents and you do not receive a response from you within the specified timescale, they may return documents to UK Border Agency who will send your passports/ID cards to the relevant Embassy. If you want your passport and other documents returned by Special Delivery, you will need to provide a suitably sized special delivery envelope with the correct pre-paid postage.

If you wish to arrange a courier to collect your documents please let the Bulgarian and Romanian caseworking team know by fax on 0114 207 2620 and they will contact you to let you know when and where your documents will be ready for collection. Please be aware that the Bulgarian and Romanian caseworking team will not sign for documents from the courier company or pay for this service.

We offer a same-day service for applications on forms BR1, BR2, (except those applicants applying under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme), BR3, BR4 by appointment only at public enquiry office (PEO) in Croydon. You should call 0870 606 7766 to make an appointment before you attend.

Highly Skilled Migrant Programme applications should be submitted to the Sheffield caseworking team, address above.

We are able to consider applications from married partners and civil partnerships, but regret we are unable to consider applications for un-married partners at PEO. Applications of this type should be submitted to the Bulgarian and Romanian caseworking team as a postal application.
